In our Scottsdale office, we focus on bringing the most effective and innovative treatments to our patients. While Dr. Ong is a respected board-certified plastic surgeon, he recognizes the value of proven nonsurgical modalities. Here, we discuss what you may want to know about the MicroLaserPeel®, especially if you want to refresh your skin before the busy holiday season just ahead.
What is a MicroLaser Peel?
A MicroLaser Peel is a light resurfacing procedure that achieves more significant improvements than your average chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment. Still, in the world of skin resurfacing, the MicroLaser Peel is pretty conservative. It is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, rough texture, and pigment problems with very little downtime and minimal discomfort.
Some of the benefits of the MicroLaser Peel include:
- Comfortable treatment and recovery
- Minimal downtime with few side effects
- Customizable laser depths achieve optimal results
- Visible results after just one treatment
- Gentle enough to repeat as a series of treatments for more profound tissue rejuvenation
The MicroLaser Peel is customizable for depths ranging from a light peel to full resurfacing, and yet is gentle enough for just about any adult. Dr. Ong begins treatment by applying a topical numbing medication to the area. This needs to remain on the skin for several minutes but does a good job of desensitizing for a more comfortable procedure. Our patients may enhance their comfort with ProNox, self-administered nitrous oxide that acts like a mild sedative and pain reducer. After the skin is anesthetized, the doctor cleans the surface and places shields over the eyes. A small handpiece is guided over the treatment area to remove the desired layers of damaged tissue. The process can take 45 to 60 minutes.
Recovery and Results
After a MicroLaser Peel, the skin may look slightly swollen and pink. The intensity of these side effects is determined by the depth of the peel. After a few days, the skin dries and flakes off, revealing healthier, more vibrant tissue. It may take 1 to 4 days for this process after a light peel, and up to a week for a deep peel. Patients should schedule time off accordingly.
MicroLaser Peels are multi-tasking treatments that can address a number of common concerns. These include acne scarring, dark spots, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and precancerous growths. To schedule your MicroLaser Peel consultation, call (480) 771-7771.
