COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Here at Ong Institute, we have a belief that giving back to our community is a core people principle. One person can deeply touch another. One touch can change a person’s life. One medical practice can make a difference.

We embrace this power of oneness through our dedication and desire to support the community, our community. Here you will see images, read stories and realize the power that every individual can reach out and touch another person. No matter where or how, big or small, oneness with all builds community.

This community outreach makes us all better people. Touching another person affects both, the giver and receiver. 1 to 1.

Ong Institute salutes our community and each individual giving to others.

Being the Queen is not all about singing, and being a diva is not all about singing. It has much to do with your service to people. And your social contributions to your community and civic contributions as well.

In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.

Community service has taught me all kinds of skills and increased my confidence. You go out there and think on your feet, work with others, and create something from nothing. That's what life's all about.

The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic, or hospital.

WOMEN’S HEALTH MONTH “BARE NECESSITIES” DRIVE

MAY 2019

We wanted to celebrate Women’s Health Month by giving back to our community. In the month of May, we hosted a “Bare Necessities” drive to support The Singletons. The Singletons is a local organization that helps single-parent families who are facing a cancer diagnosis. These parents are often out of work while they are in active treatment and traditional assistance programs such as SNAP (food stamps) do not provide necessary items such as soaps, hygiene products, and laundry detergents.

Each month, approximately 30 local families receive donations collected by the Bare Necessities program. These essential household items relieve the financial burden on the family. Many of our clients and patients donated generously to this drive and Alex was proudly able to deliver these items personally. Thank you to all who helped us support this amazing charitable organization and their mission.

FALL FUNDRAISER

OCTOBER 2018

The Singletons organization is one that is near and dear to our hearts. We often see single parents in our office who are facing a cancer diagnosis and going through the process of breast surgery, reconstruction, chemotherapy, and radiation. They are still responsible for paying the bills, keeping up with the household, and raising the children. The world does not stop when they are diagnosed with cancer.

The Singletons program helps single-parent families who are facing a cancer diagnosis. Approximately 60 local families are actively participating in this program at any given time. The organization helps these families with household supplies, utility assistance, meals and creating a sense of community.

We partnered with Executive Council Charities to raise $8,000 to support The Singleton’s organization in the last quarter of 2018. This monetary donation could help provide nearly 500 meals for these families.

ASPS REVEAL THE MATCH

APRIL 2018

Did you know that anyone with a medical license can perform cosmetic surgery? The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) educates patients on plastic surgery procedures and why they should seek a board-certified plastic surgeon. Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon assures that procedures are performed in a safe, accredited facility by a surgeon who has completed six years of surgical training followed by a minimum of 3 years of plastic surgery residency training.

Dr. Ong and Alex volunteered on behalf of the ASPS at the Phoenix Women’s Health Expo. Our focus at this event was to educate women regarding safety in Plastic Surgery and the importance of choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon for their cosmetic procedures. We want women to feel empowered to choose a surgeon with specialized training, practices the highest level of safety and has the most consistent outcomes.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS, PITCH IN FOR KIDS

FEBRUARY 2018

Dr. Ong, Beau, and members of Executive Council charities attended the Pitch In For Kids fundraising event celebrating the power of mentoring. Over 550 baseball MVPs joined the celebration of the organization that makes it possible for 1,500 youth each year with caring, supportive mentors.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has helped match children ages 6 to 18 with mentors for over 60 years. Mentorship is critical in the development and success of any individual. The match between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”) helps build their self-confidence and creates meaningful educational opportunities. It’s also proven to decrease their exposure to negative influences such as drugs and alcohol.

EVENING OF DREAMS GALA

FEBRUARY 2018

On February 24th, 2018, Dr. Ong and Beau attended the Colleen’s Dream Foundation Evening of Dreams Gala. Colleen’s Dream raises money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. Very little is known about ovarian cancer, however, The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2012, 22,280 women were diagnosed with the disease. Funding this research is extremely important and will save lives.

660 people attended the gala for the foundation that was founded in 2012. $350,000 of the funds raised during this event went to Phoenix research institute, TGen, for a clinical trial. The Ong Institute was honored to be one of the event sponsors.

COLLEEN’S DREAM GOLF TOURNAMENT

FEBRUARY 2018

It was an honor for our team to be able to support The Colleen’s Dream Foundation, a local charity actively bringing awareness to ovarian cancer research, by attending and participating in their annual Golf Tournament on February 23rd, 2018. We had a blast kick-starting the morning by administering Vitamin IV’s to the athletes, volunteers, and participants of the organization, as well as educating them on the various health benefits associated with this vitamin shot.

We enjoyed the opportunity to attend and take part in spreading awareness on such an important topic. We look forward to working with Colleen’s Dream and participating in future events!

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL’S ANNUAL HOLIDAY CLASSIC CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT AT TALKING STICK RESORT

DECEMBER 2017

We were thrilled to be a part of Executive Council 70’s Holiday Classic Golf Tournament at Talking Stick Resort. The annual event with over 350 golfers raises awareness and funds for various youth charities in the Valley of the Sun. We were on hand providing Vitamin IV’s to the attendees, boosting their golf game before they headed out onto the course. It was great to provide education and insight on our nutrient-dense Vitamin Push, as well as the other treatments that we offer to improve overall health and wellness.

It was a great opportunity to be included in an organization that supports and gives back to the community like Executive Council Charities. We look forward to participating in their future events!

LADIES’ NIGHT OUT AT VIRGINIA PIPER CANCER CENTER

OCTOBER 2017

We were very happy to attend and be a part of the Virginia Piper Center’s annual event for breast and ovarian cancer. The event provides valuable resources and education including complimentary bone density screenings, detection education, and survivorship programs for women currently going through treatment and survivors alike.

Dr. Ong was one of three doctors featured in a panel session where attendees could ask specific questions related to their treatments, surgery, and recovery.

The event closed out with a bridge lighting ceremony outside of the cancer center where the 200 attendees held up pink flashlights anticipating the lighting of the bridge. It was a wonderful event to be a part of. So much hope and positivity!

ARIZONA ONCOLOGY CANCER SURVIVOR & CAREGIVERS CELEBRATION SYMPOSIUM

MARCH 2017

On March 4th, 2017, Arizona Oncology hosted a Cancer Survivor and Caregivers Celebration Symposium at the JW Marriott Resort in Phoenix. Local doctors and healthcare professionals spoke about various topics including: cancer survivorship, the role of caregivers, sex and cancer, cancer genetic testing, nutrition, and advances in new treatments in patient care.

Dr. Ong was one of the featured doctors at the symposium. She spoke and educated cancer survivors about sexual health and wellness. She also spoke regarding current science-based regenerative options to help women after breast reconstruction.

Our primary goal is to help patients regain their health and wellness and to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle after a cancer diagnosis. Arizona Oncology put together a wonderful event and Dr. Ong had a great response during the Q&A session.

We are excited to be included with organizations that support and give back to the community like Arizona Oncology, and look forward to participate in their future events.

PHOENIX WOMEN’S 5K EVENT

JANUARY 2017

On January 29th, 2017, Ong Institute participated in and was also one of the team sponsors for the group that took part in the Phoenix Women’s 5K event at Rose Mofford Sports Complex.

Everyone had a great time, with a few members managing to place in their respective age groups! There was tremendous support from family and friends making this day a positive experience for all.

VIRGINIA PIPER CANCER CENTER’S ANNUAL LADIES NIGHT OUT

OCTOBER 2016

We had so much fun at the Virginia Piper Cancer Center’s annual Ladies Night Out for Women’s Cancer on October 18th, 2016. The focus for their annual event was on breast, cervical, and ovarian cancer. Many valuable resources were available to the attendees such as mammography education, complimentary bone density screenings, and an “Ask the Doctor” panel session, in which Dr. Ong was one of the featured doctors.

It was a great night to network with breast cancer survivors and provide a platform to educate them on how our practice is helping patients through breast reconstruction and beyond their cancer treatments. Our mission is to guide our patients back to health and wellness.

The Virginia Piper Center organized a fantastic event in which we were very happy to be able to be a part of! We are looking forward to their next event!
