The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has grown tremendously in sexual medicine due to its proven regenerative potential. The O-Shot® was originally described by Dr. Charles Runels as the placement of PRP into certain areas in the female genital area to enhance sensation and the female orgasm system. Now, there are elevated versions of the O-Shot®, such as the Advanced O-Shot®, that we offer to patients in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa, and surrounding areas. We take the classic treatment, customize it to your current health needs and boost it with more potent products to get even better results.
The O-Spot is an anatomical area where PRP and other growth factors can be injected to help with a variety of conditions, especially sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence.
The G-Shot is a procedure used to describe the injection of fillers, most commonly HA fillers (such as Restylane® or Juvederm®) to augment the area where the nerves are located to increase the volume and surface area of contact in order to enhance the orgasm response during sex. Vaginal rejuvenation treatments into the O-spot are more regenerative and can help provide the growth factors necessary to help with nerve regeneration as well as the support structures involved in the treatment of urine incontinence.
Research has shown that sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence affect more than 60% of women and 58% of postmenopausal women experience vaginal dryness.
Many women need to realize that they are not alone in this. As women go through normal aging, hormonal changes, and life events such as childbirth, their bodies change. Taking a longer time to achieve an orgasm or experiencing less intense orgasms are more common than previously realized. Women most likely also experience urinary leakage with common activities such as sneezing and laughing, or have some vaginal dryness. There are now effective options available for these problems.
At our Scottsdale, AZ office, Dr. Ong uses the treatments selectively to help the treatment of urinary incontinence and vaginal dryness, improving orgasms and certain gynecologic disorders such as lichen sclerosis.
Many postmenopausal women and women who are post-cancer have a loss of sexual desire or severe vaginal dryness, and are unable to have sexual intercourse due to the lack of lubrication or pain at the entrance of their vagina. These women are able to benefit from the healing capabilities of vaginal rejuvenation treatments and are able to engage in non-painful sexual relations again.
The use of radiofrequency technology and other new emerging technologies in this field has been very promising and amplifies the results of each individual treatment alone in the approach to these common concerns. Many of our patients have had profound life-changing results from our approach of combining several treatment modalities.
There are a few things that we know make a difference in terms of outcomes.
The first is the product, the second is the environment.
The Product = your PRP
Your PRP is as good as: your current state of health, processing of your blood to create the PRP.
The Environment = your Body
Your environment is good as: well, your internal current state of health. Your current state of oxidative stress, amount of nutrients (or lack of), hormonal status, etc. As we age, our internal bodily systems start to accumulate oxidative stress and systems start to wear down. For most women, a boost of concentrated growth factors, delivered to the area, helps supply the necessary “ingredients” needed to create the changes.
To elevate this even further, the advanced O-shot adds a few additional “ingredients” into the mix:
The Advanced O-shot is available at the Ong Institute to further elevate your outcomes.
The key to the O-Shot® is the platelet-rich plasma. PRP contains such a high concentration of blood platelets, combined with a series of growth factors and cytokines, it plays a key role in healing the body.
Of course, everyone knows how platelets work to clot the blood and close the wound after an injury. But it’s only been in the last 20 years or so that research has shown that platelets offer way more than simply clotting power. Their growth factors and cytokines stimulate various healing processes to not only help close the wound but also to trigger processes to heal the wound with new tissue growth.
That’s where PRP first became a standard treatment in the healing of injury or to speed recovery after surgery in professional athletes.
What’s good for a knee joint is good for a woman’s clitoral and vaginal areas. The same regeneration and rejuvenating qualities inherent in PRP work to renew tissues in the vaginal areas. The growth factors, in particular, work to increase sensitivity throughout the injected tissues. They also increase lubrication, which is an almost universal problem for women as they age. They help to tighten loose tissues responsible for urinary incontinence. The PRP can even increase interest in sex for some patients.
Some practices see the O-Shot® as just another procedure, but Dr. Ong sees this as a perfect part of the Ong Institute’s overall mission to make a positive difference in our patients’ lives.
For the O-Shot® treatment, the two important reasons that separate Dr. Ong from others is her expertise and her approach.
Dr. Ong is a certified trainer of the O-Shot® procedure. She has extensive experience and teaches this procedure to other medical providers. The Ong Institute is an O-Shot® Certified Provider.
Dr. Ong’s unique approach of integrating other regenerative solutions enhances her O-Shot® treatment results.
The changes that come with aging and menopause are a part of life, but that doesn’t mean they also have to spell the end of your sex life. Almost two-thirds of women experience vaginal dryness after menopause and about the same number suffer from urinary incontinence. Enjoying sex is a part of being human, and that shouldn’t go away with the passing years because your vaginal lubrication and sensitivity have declined.
If you’re experiencing increased vaginal dryness, have found your ability to achieve orgasm has decreased, are dealing with bladder leakage when you sneeze or cough, or are experiencing pain at the entrance of your vagina, the O-Shot® could be a great option.
No, these are non-invasive treatments, so there aren’t any incisions or recovery. Dr. Ong will apply topical numbing cream prior to your session. We will give you a preparation guide prior to your treatment.
The procedure sounds more painful than it actually is! Our patients tell us that the anticipation of the procedure is actually what causes the stress!! In fact, many women who have previously had the procedure done elsewhere say that the way Dr. Ong performs the procedure was so much less painful than what they had experienced elsewhere. The key is the setup and the way the anesthetic is applied.
There will be mild swelling and discomfort for 24 hours. The entire procedure takes less than 10 minutes and there are no activity restrictions afterward.
Dr. Ong is a certified trainer of the O-Shot® procedure and teaches this procedure to other medical providers. If you’re interested in learning more about the O-Shot® procedure in the Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ area, book a consultation with Dr. Ong today!
Ozone therapy is an innovative treatment that involves administering a blend of oxygen and medical-grade ozone to the vaginal area or bladder. This simple treatment is comfortable and quick, though we encourage you to bring a book or browse your phone to help pass the time.
Our clinic provides vaginal ozone therapy in Scottsdale to help with issues such as frequent urinary tract infections and to eliminate the long term use of antibiotics. The purpose of incorporating ozone therapy is to deliver oxygen to the tissues and eliminate chronic infections.
Vaginal ozone therapy can be repeated as needed. We will work with you to schedule vaginal ozone therapy at an appropriate frequency for your specific health concerns. Many times patients get even better results by combining the vaginal treatments with ozone therapies done systematically (through intravenous treatments).
Insurance providers rarely cover O-Shot treatments because they are deemed elective. However, there are other ways to make this powerful rejuvenation service work within your budget. Our practice offers flexible financing options to help you manage the costs associated with improving your intimate health. And remember, this is an investment in yourself! You deserve a great sex life, bladder control, and vaginal comfort. It’s time to stop suffering in silence and learn how our financing options can help put transformative O-Shot® treatments within your reach. Our team is available to discuss your financial commitment in detail and eliminate the fear of unknown medical expenses. After all, you are our top priority, and we want you to thrive.
Dr. Ong places two injections for the O-Shot®: one in the clitoris and one in the vaginal wall.
These are meant to be single treatments. But we have found that a second session 6 to 12 months after the first session maximizes benefits.
Every patient responds a little differently to these injections. Some of Dr. Ong’s O-Shot® patients report an immediate improvement. But that’s not the norm. For most patients, the growth factors usually take about two weeks to fully take effect. From there, results build to a maximum level in 3 to 4 months.
Our Ong Institute patients report results lasting from 1 to 2 years. Ongoing annual maintenance O-Shot® treatments maintain your results.
There’s not any reason to increase the frequency of your O-Shot®. Dr. Ong recommends returning when you notice a drop in your sensitivity and the other benefits from the O-Shot®. So, while there isn’t a limit to how often you can have an O-Shot®, you will see greater results with more frequent injections.
The O-shot® procedure is safe if performed by a knowledgeable and experienced doctor. Not everyone is a good candidate for this procedure. If Dr. Ong is unable to perform the procedure for medical reasons, she can guide you to other treatment alternatives that can help.
Of the hundreds of patients that Dr. Ong has treated, the pain has been reported as mild (2-3 out of a scale of 10). She takes several steps to help reduce the discomfort you might experience. This may include the use of topical anesthetic cream, local anesthetic block, ice, or other cooling devices for anesthesia. The anticipation and thought of the procedure usually causes more anxiety and stress for the patient than the actual procedure itself.
Dr. Ong has found great success in combining radiofrequency vaginal rejuvenation treatments to tighten and rejuvenate inner and outer vaginal tissue, with the growth factors and rejuvenation qualities of the O-Shot®. These two procedures complement one another very well.
There isn’t any prescribed downtime after the O-Shot®, but there can be some soreness at the site of injection for a day or so. Patients can return to work or other activities immediately.
"Dr.Ong and her staff are amazing. I was very comfortable with my experiences. They are all polite and professional. Office is spotless and very classy. I would highly recommend Dr.Ong to friends and family, shes a great Dr. and knows what she is doing!”
