Details About ThermiTight Skin Tightening

Skin tightening didn’t become a thing until recently. Before technology caught up to the demand for more cosmetic treatment options, people with loose skin only had the choice of a surgical lift. While there are situations in which a procedure like abdominoplasty remains ideal, there are many people who can achieve appreciable results without the risks and downtime associated with surgery. In our Scottsdale office, one such option is ThermiTight.

ThermiTight is a micro-invasive treatment that is used to stimulate collagen in a targeted area. The purpose of collagen-induction is to firm and tighten aging skin. Collagen is a vital chemical that is produced in the dermis. The cells that make collagen go dormant before middle-age, leaving us to make do with what has been stored in the skin. The body breaks this down at a rate of up to 2% per year. ThermiTight treatments wake these cells up so they continue performing their important function of producing new collagen. This is achieved by targeting them with radiofrequency energy.

What does It Feel Like?

ThermiTight is considered a micro-invasive procedure because a tiny nick is made in the skin to accommodate the applicator tip of the device. The reason why this modality achieves such significant results is that radiofrequency is delivered directly to the tissue under the epidermis. To ensure comfort, Dr. Ong administers tumescent anesthetic fluid before commencing with treatment. Patients may be aware of the applicator being moved in a uniform pattern beneath the skin but do not sense this as pain.

After ThermiTight

Patients can expect slight swelling and bruising after a ThermiTight treatment. This may resolve as quickly as 3 to 5 days after the procedure. Most patients do not report pain during their recovery and, in fact, can begin resuming normal activities within 24 hours as they feel comfortable. Bruising and swelling are generally the only side effects that may prevent patients from going back to work or socializing right away. Depending on where the procedure is performed on the body, patients may be advised to apply sunscreen generously during the recovery period.

We enjoy offering patients options for enhancing their appearance that fit their desire for a conservative approach. To learn more about ThermiTight, call (480) 771-7771.
