When Thinking About Liposuction, Don’t Forget Your Skin

Liposuction is a great way to finally bid farewell to the stubborn fat that has demanded a lifelong love affair with your body. When you have come to a point where diet and exercise have accomplished all that they can, but a certain area, such as the buttocks or the abdomen, simply refuses to obey your wishes, it’s time to consider getting a little help. Liposuction is a gentle procedure that has been used worldwide for decades. Recent technological advance has made this process of fat-reduction even better, minimizing post-operative recovery without diminishing results. There is a lot to gain by losing those last pockets of fat. However, there are important considerations that need to be made before your liposuction procedure. Namely, how you will…

Let’s Talk Girly Parts

why women love labiaplasty

During the summer months, we most often think about the parts of the body that everyone will see. Men and women may increase their physical activity to tighten and tone before swimsuit weather. Tummy tucks and liposuction procedures may be on everyone’s “want” list. But there’s more to physical rejuvenation, and more women are starting to talk about it. By “it,” we mean LabiaSculpt surgery. You may have heard of LabiaSculpt surgery as a procedure that gives you a designer vagina. The Kardashian sisters and other reality stars have brought this important feminine issue to the forefront by openly discussing their laser vaginal rejuvenation procedures (ThermiVa™). Sometimes, a little more than a zap is needed. LabiaSculpt is the brief, precise surgical procedure through which the…

Does being a “righty” or “lefty” affect your ability to have sex?

Left or right handed

The four-eyed fish…. Interesting facts.    What if your chances of having sex is determined by whether you are a “righty” or a “lefty”? The Anableps Anableps is called the four-eyed fish. A horizontal band of tissue splits the eye into to lobes:- each with its own pupil and lobe. Allows it to see in and out of the water simultaneously while swimming.  Definitely an advantage for survival from predators and feeding. However, when it comes to sex…. The gonopodium (male’s sex organ) and the females opening are turned only to the right or the left. Which means that a “righty” male is built to copulate only with a “lefty” female . This means a 50% chance of finding a compatible mate. Interesting fact…

Is Your Immune System Stressed?

Last week, we treated two patients at Ong Institute for Plastic Surgery & Health needing some additional “help” with their immune system . Our first patient had a rash that started developing all over her body. She had seen a dermatologist several times, given antibiotics and treatment without any improvement for 2 weeks. I recognized the amount of stress that was going on in her life, and knew that her immune system had been compromised. We gave her a Vitamin IV push  and IV glutathione and within 12 hours her rash and began to subside and in 24 hours was 50% improved. The second patient was battling multiple recurrent infections, and was recently “down” with another upper respiratory event feeling fatigue, and unwell taking some…

Breast Implants and anaplastic large-cell lymphoma

Last month the U. S. Food and Drug Administration updated its 2011 safety announcement regarding breast implant associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL).  Since this update, there have been a few news articles published that have caused some fear and concern among some of our patients.  We want to provide some facts and information about this disease. This is what is currently known about Breast implant associated anaplastic large cell-lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). It  is a rare ( 1 in 500,000 to 3 million)  and very treatable T-cell lymphoma that can develop around breast implants.  It is not a cancer of the breast tissue.   In case studies performed, the ALCL cells were found in the fibrous scar capsule surrounding the implant.  Most of the women who were diagnosed…

How Does PRP For Hair Growth Work ?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) works by :- Stimulating the formation of new blood vessels  (angiogenesis). Decreasing  inflammation around the hair follicle and promotion of growth through the anti-inflammatory effect of growth factors and cytokines.  Inflammation around the follicle is a major cause of hair thinning and loss. This is largely due to the effect of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) around the hair follicle.  Cytokines are signaling molecules that allows for cells to communicate. They can trigger cell movement towards injury as well as stimulate stem cells within the hair follicle. What is so unique about our hair program and why is it so effective? We:- Obtain the highest yield of platelets from superior processing of the blood. Stimulate injury within the scalp with micro-needling to allow for activation of PRP. Allow for regeneration…

Drooping Breasts: Is Exercise the Answer?

When you observe a person who is fit and physically active, it is easy to get the impression that exercise is a great solution for many of the problems that may adversely affect body shape. We are told that crunches can tighten the abs, and that squats will round out the back side. Many women are also under the impression that, if they perform just enough fly’s or bench presses, they can tighten and tone their chest. This wouldn’t be an untrue statement, but it’s not entirely accurate, either. Here’s why . . . Breast Anatomy 101 Breasts are comprised of fat cells and glandular tissue that lie over the pectoral muscles. As with any part of the body, the fat cells in the breasts…

ThermiVA Scottsdale

There are many changes in the body that occur as a result of normal aging and life changes including our sexual experiences. The good news is that there have been significant advances in the field of sexual medicine, which are now available to us. One of the biggest advances in regenerative medicine is the ability to regenerate tissue using the body’s own growth factors. Platelet rich plasma or PRP has really made a difference in tissue regeneration.  I am currently using PRP as a tool to aid healing in almost all my surgical procedures, in hair regeneration and to enhance the collagen production of the skin in facial rejuvenation procedures. ThermiVA™ has also revolutionized the treatment of functional problems for women. Having treated hundreds of women and witnessing…
